Introduction
WiskoCuts turns an idea, a script or a recording into a finished documentary-style video. It runs as a desktop app on your computer, and any AI app that speaks MCP can direct it.
Pick your path
Start with the one that describes you.
Use the appDownload the desktop app, add one Gemini key, and make your first video in about seven minutes.
Direct with your AIClaude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Cursor, Gemini CLI and more: connect them over MCP, step by step.
Keys & plansWhich plan uses whose keys, how to add a key, and every model provider that works with a key alone.
How a video is made
Every video goes through the same steps, in this order. You watch them in the app, and you can stop, change and re-run any step.
| Step | What happens | Who decides |
|---|---|---|
| Research | Reads real sources about the topic and writes the script with its facts. | The app, or your AI |
| Asks | Lists the pictures, cut-outs, series and clips the video needs, each with its prompt and search words. | The app, or your AI |
| Acquire & check | Finds and downloads footage, makes the pictures you chose to generate, and checks which ones truly show the story. | The app (the check: the app, or your AI) |
| Direct | Plans every beat: staging, pictures, camera, transition, sound. | The app, or your AI |
| Voice, layout, sound | Speaks the script, lays out every frame and places the sound. | Always the app |
| Review | Looks at the frames and the measured checks before the render: approve, or name what to fix. | The app, or your AI |
| Render & check | Renders the final file and checks the finished video. | Always the app |
"Your AI" means an AI app you connect over MCP, such as Claude Code. You choose which steps it decides: for every video, or one video at a time. See Which stages your AI decides.
What runs where
- On your computer: the app, your videos, your uploads and your API keys. Keys are stored encrypted and never leave the computer except to call the provider they belong to.
- Your AI app (if you connect one) talks to the app on this computer through the MCP server. It never gets your keys, and it can only use the app's video tools: no files, no shell.
- Our servers handle sign-in, your plan and its minutes, and downloads. They never see your keys, and they see a video only if you choose to render that video in the cloud.
Local voices and other optional models are not part of the main download. Each one downloads only if you turn it on in Settings → Downloads, and it starts only when a video uses it.
